We are an Adelaide based studio specialising in story driven ceramics. Courses and workshops are available for all those who wish to turn what is in their mind into something they can hold in their hands. Our goal is to inspire and share knowledge with other creative people and have fun doing it! Plus we're really friendly, so please feel free to contact us and let us know how we can help you!

Studio Panoply is a small and cozy place where we achieve big things. We keep classes to a maximum of 5 people. This way we can make sure everyone gets the attention they need and ensure a friendly and comfortable environment.

Meet your instructor and the founder of Studio Panoply:

Aurelie de Sousa

As far back as she can remember Aurelie de Sousa has always felt the urge to draw, paint and create.

She spent her formative years in France where she would spend hours drawing the world around her. Her mother, a ceramic artist, introduced her to clay as a way to transform her drawings into three-dimensional pieces.

Aurélie later moved to Portugal where she would go on to undertake a degree in Graphic Design at the Fine Arts University in Lisbon. After a period working as a graphic designer, Aurelie returned to her true passion of illustration spending several years as a free-lance illustrator working for the major publishers in Portugal. During this time she illustrated dozens of educational and children's books. In 2017 she moved to South Africa where she took inspiration from the massive landscapes and beautiful wildlife, continuing to work as a freelancer. In the beginning of 2021 she packed her things for a fourth time and came to live in Adelaide, Australia. After over 10 years of illustration in digital format, she has decided to get her hands dirty and dive into the world of clay again.

We respect and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.
